Company Profile
Morton Atkinson Associates was created in 2000 by Nigel Atkinson on
the firm foundation of 20 years of experience and the latest
technology, with the aim of concentrating on two specific areas:
boundary dispute resolution and measured building surveys with a
particular interest on old and historic buildings.
After service with the Third Royal Tank Regiment in Germany, Cyprus
and Northern Ireland, Nigel Atkinson gained a degree in geography at
Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, and an MSc in Land Surveying at
University College, London where he won the Hart prize for
Surveying.
Nigel became a Chartered Land Surveyor two years later in 1983, and
a fellow of the RICS in 1993.
From 1979 to 1983 he worked in Libya, The Empty Quarter of Saudi
Arabia, and Qatar, and took part in the International Karakoram
Project, carrying out high altitude survey work in the Himalayas of
Pakistan. In 1983 he joined Iffland and Associates and worked for a
year in the Andes of Peru before becoming a Principal Surveyor with
them in the UK.
In 1987 he came to Shropshire as a partner in The Severn
Partnership, working mainly in the UK, but also in Gibraltar,
Antarctica and Uzbekistan. During this period he developed his
expertise particularly in the survey of listed and historic
buildings, and in legal work, including multi-million pound landfill
dispute, rights of way cases, and numerous boundary disputes.
Nigel Atkinson continues to play an active role in both local and
professional matters, and has served on numerous RICS and FIG
(International Federation of Surveyors) councils and committees.
Morton Atkinson Associates is backed by full Professional Indemnity
and a documented Quality Assurance system.
